In 2018, the bilateral trade volume reached a record high of 682.16 billion US dollars. China has also been the second largest trading partner of the EU for many years. Statistics show that two-way personnel exchanges have reached nearly 8 million person times every year, and more than 600 flights go to and from China and Europe every week.
Next year will be the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the EU and China. At this important moment, China and the EU are stepping up their preparations. Previously, the Joint Statement of the 21st China EU Summit mentioned that "the two sides committed themselves to making decisive progress necessary to conclude the negotiations in 2019, especially in terms of investment liberalization commitments, so as to reach a high-level EU China Investment Agreement by 2020".
